A super shortie comic tribute to one of my major comedy insprations, Rik Mayall, who passed away recently. Why use Taffy and Nigel? Because without Rik, these characters wouldn't exist.

I also thought I'd include the message in that it's ok to feel sad and greive, but you can also celebrate the memories and fun times you had with those who have passed on. Which is why I'm on a "Bottom" and "The Young Ones" binge at the moment. :D

"...it's OK to feel sad and grieve, but you can also celebrate the memories and fun times you had with those who have passed on..."

That's a nice way of putting it. Rik will definitely be one that many won't forget any time soon - whether he's acting out a live-action cartoon (ie, "Bottom") or voicing a few behind the microphone. Short but sweet tribute here, 'specially with a rather squishy-looking Taffy :aww:

A cute tribute indeed. :) I'll have to look to find the right stuff from him, as I admit I got off on the wrong foot with his stuff. Either way, cute pic and kudos to BOTH sentiments there. :)

Rik's sense of humour isn't for everybody so I don't blame you there. I s'pose it's because I associate Rik's stuff with sitting around the TV with the family laughing at all the stupidly funny stuff he said and did which is why his death it hit a bit close to home for me. But there will always be the shows to remember him by, so he'll never really be gone forever. :)

If you ever do check out any stuff with Rik Mayall in it, I'd suggest Grim Tales. It's funny without all the swearies and violence and it's got some weird, quirky animation in it too. :)

Short, sweet, funny and poignant all at once - nicely done, Hay. :)

I wish I had known about Rik all these years. Only learned of him today through you and Andrew due to the sad news. Great tribute pic. The first panel is very sad. But I agree with your message that a more cheerful celebration of the good memory should follow the grieving period. Well done portraying that. :)

Very cute and very appropriate. One of our biggest influences outside of cartoons, which is weird since Rik was just like a live-action cartoon himself.

Nicely done. :) I love the episode of "The Young Ones" where they are part of a University Challenge and then they get crushed by a giant long john doughnut.

That was the first episode of The Young Ones I ever saw. The first thing I ever saw Rik Mayall himself in was a kids show called Jackanory where he read (and acted out...in drag...twice) Jack and the Beanstalk. That's where my dad recognised him from The Young Ones and showed me the episodes he recorded on tape. When I was 8 years old. I learnt a lot of new words that day.
